Since 1995 the Association for Town Marketing of Wetter ("Stadtmarketing f├╝r Wetter e.V.") works for the presentation of the location Wetter and the systematic prestige advertising as well as for improving the attractiveness of the town of Wetter (Ruhr) for citizens of Wetter (Ruhr), citizens of the surrounding area as well as resident and interested companies. The association wants to contribute by ideological, material and / or financial support for appropriate events in cultural, sporting, economic, social and / or environmental fields. The association can also achieve these purposes by implementing appropriate procedures (eg. planning and guidance documents, publications and related services).

Hiking tour Schnadegang III

Become a "border walker" and come with us on this third of four tours along the town borders of Wetter.

Round trip in 4 stages:

Route description:

The Schnadegang, sometimes also called "Schnadezug", "Schnatgang" or "Schnadgang", is a revived old custom of the border-crossing in many communities, especially in Westphalia. "Schnade," also called "Snat" or "Schnaot", is related to "Schneise" and means "border".

And so the hiking tour, which due to its length is divided into 4 stages, leads us around our town Wetter. Each of these 4 quite sporting hikes take about 3-4 hours.

Schnadegang I

The first tour takes us along the  Schnodderbach high up to the Harkortberg across the  mountain range to  Herdecke and again down to the  Ruhr and the Harkortsee, on whose  shores we hike back to Alt-Wetter. The way over the  Ruhr bridge leads us through the Ruhr meadows, until we finally reach the intersection  Bachstra├če / Hagener Stra├če, the end point of our first and the starting point of our second stage.

Schnadegang II

Steeply uphill from the intersection  Bachstra├če / Hagener Stra├če we climb up over the Volmarsteiner mountain to the castle ruins of Volmarstein and then walk through the village of Volmarstein, to get from the Brandst├Âcken to the  riding hall. Along the industrial park  Am Nielande, where inter alia the world company ABUS is headquartered, our way leads us over  meadows, fields and through forests towards Silschede. Destination and the starting point for the third section is the stop  Am B├╝ffel.

Schnadegang III

The third tour takes us from the stop  Am B├╝ffel through Esborn via  meadows, hillsides and through forests along the traces of the local mining – past the old  Albringhausen train station and the  fish ponds over the  nature friend house Eggeklause to the  village center of Wengern and the evangelical village church.

Schnadegang IV

The fourth and final stage begins in the  village center of Wengern.. From the local meeting point at the evangelical village church, we climb up to Trienendorf to the  Bommeran water tower and then back over the  Elberfelder Stra├če to  Deipenbecke. From there, the route takes us via the  RuhrtalRadweg (see also RuhrtalRadweg) back in the direction of Alt-Wetter, to end at the  starting point of the first part of the Schnadegang.
