Since 1995 the Association for Town Marketing of Wetter ("Stadtmarketing für Wetter e.V.") works for the presentation of the location Wetter and the systematic prestige advertising as well as for improving the attractiveness of the town of Wetter (Ruhr) for citizens of Wetter (Ruhr), citizens of the surrounding area as well as resident and interested companies. The association wants to contribute by ideological, material and / or financial support for appropriate events in cultural, sporting, economic, social and / or environmental fields. The association can also achieve these purposes by implementing appropriate procedures (eg. planning and guidance documents, publications and related services).

A must-visit event for the whole family

Wetter celebrates again big family party at the lake

Jens Holsteg, Town of Wetter (Ruhr)

Music, diverse activities of local clubs, a lot of fun for young and old and culinary delights: the lake festival lures with its 23rd edition on 1st and 2nd September again to the big party at the Harkortsee.

The lake festival was organized by Nicole Damaszek, Rainer Zimmermann and Peter Uphoff from the economic development department of the town of Wetter (Ruhr) in cooperation with our association.

The special feature of this year: The agency Bors from Hoppegarten near Berlin is responsible for the musical program design and brings along a little metropolitan flair into the town of Harkort. And not only Berlin air, but also Berlin music: So the well-known Berlin band "Kensington Road" (Indie Rock / Alternative Pop) will play on the culture stage ("Kulturbühne") at the natural bath car park.

"At the Kulturbühne, we mainly show handmade live music. We present a good mix of local acts and foreign bands."

André Pohl
Agentur Bors

Speaking of home: With the HeartChoir and "Fatal Rumor of Gravity" popular music acts from Wetter are among the party. The cover band "Westpak" guarantees a lot of fun in front of the Kulturbühne. This will also be the case on the lake stage ("Seebühne"). Especially DJ Fetzer will take care of a good mood here. "He is not only a very good DJ, but also a really good entertainer," says Benjamin Bors. Another musical highlight on the Seebühne is the pianist Robert Lehmann. "A very musical person who fully convinces on the piano," says Pohl.

Other musical guests include the band Soul Bossa, the cover band "Green Ink Machine", which also presents their own songs, the brass band "Hardy's Jazz Band" and the "Dirty Old Towners" from Herdecke. By the way, the youth choir "Be happy" of the Child Protection Agency ("Kinderschutzbund") and the 25-member blues band of the Geschwister Scholl-Gymnasium also provide a musical note from Wetter on Sunday.

This year's Lake Festival starts on Saturday at 14 o'clock; The big city party is officially opened by mayor Frank Hasenberg at 4 pm at the Seebühne. With the big fireworks at 11 pm the first day of the event ends. Sunday starts at 11 am with an open air service and ends at 6 pm.

In addition to the music, the Seefest scores traditionally with the many colorful offers of local clubs: so again this year over 60 booths with actions of clubs, crafts and gastronomy are waiting for the numerous domestic and foreign guests. Whether ergometer rowing, archery or running for a good cause: it will never get boring on 1st and 2nd September!

The little guests are on the grounds of the natural pool with many colorful actions from face painting to Jumpolino. And with the "greenhorn" there is also an opportunity to participate around the natural and environmental education. Depending on the weather and the current situation of the "Elodea" water plague, the DLRG offers tours with lifeboats. Even pedal boats could then be used. The natural bathing area at the lake has opened on both days for small and big water rats.

Since 1995 – the founding year of our association – our "Festival at the Lake" is still taking place in and around the public swimming pool at the Harkortsee. In these 24 years, it has become a popular festival for the whole family. This is certainly due to the great commitment of all contributors and the varied offer. And so this year, you will again be spoilt for choice with more than 60 booths with activities of the clubs, crafts and gastronomy.
