AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Industrial history in Wetter exemplified by the entrepreneurial families Carl and Ludwig Bönnhof

With pride, the city of Wetter (Ruhr) can look back on almost 200 years of industrial history. Entrepreneurs such as Friedrich and Peter Harkort, Ludwig Stuckenholz and Carl and Ludwig Bönnhoff were in their time not only engines of industrialization in the city and region, but have left their mark on the visible development of our urban structure.

With the exhibition At Your Fingertips we want to shed light on the rich history of Wetterusing the example of the two entrepreneurs Bönnhoff. Individual areas such as the families' villas, their influence on urban development through settlements such as the "Bönnhoff colony", social commitment through supporting hospital construction and the establishment of a housing cooperative as precursors of the housing cooperative are shown.

The exhibition was developed and designed over several semesters by students of the TU Dortmund under the direction of Dr. Ing. Eva-Maria Butz.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 4 p.m.

The exhibition will run from 22 September 2018 to 14 October on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m..

The exhibition site is the historic Freiheit Wetter (Ruhr):  Burgstraße 17, in the old city archive as well as  Im Kirchspiel 4, in the parish hall of the Reformed Protestant Parish Wetter-Freiheit.
