THE "FREIHEIT" UNDER STEAM

Exhibition for the 200th anniversary of the "Mechanical Workshop" - exhibition opening on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 16 o‘clock

On Friday, June 28th at 4 pm we will open the exhibition in cooperation with the Heimatverein Wetter e.V. The Freiheit under steam. You are invited warmly!

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the "Mechanical Workshop Harkort & Co." in 1819, we put together a very special exhibition for all the citizens and guests of our city, which presents two main topics.

The Burgfreiheit in Wetter (Ruhr), which has always played an important role in urban development, is not only the center of attention in terms of industrial history, but also as an important living and living space for the Wetter inhabitants. the Freiheit has undergone a profound development over time and so the photo material compiled by some citizens impressively shows the change of the Freiheit from the past to the present.

Friedrich Harkort not only launched new developments as an industrial and rail pioneer, but also worked as a politician. Likewise, he is still inspiring many today through his great social commitment. Various exhibits on the subject of Harkort and the Mechanical Workshop are intended to familiarize visitors to this exhibition with the life and work of Friedrich Harkort.
